The real risk in accommodation: bed bugs

Bed bugs have nothing to do with cleanliness; they arrive in a guest's luggage. Once in a room they spread via housekeeping trolleys, laundry bags or the socket cavity in a shared wall. Left undetected they work along a corridor within weeks.

Treating a single room is not enough. We inspect the rooms beside, opposite, above and below the one that reported it. Treatment covers the bed, base, headboard joints, bedside units, sofa seams, carpet edges and skirting line.

Room-by-room protocol

  • Detailed inspection of the reported room and its neighbours
  • Beds and bases dismantled for treatment of joints and seams
  • Textiles routed to heat treatment, coordinated with the laundry
  • A clear figure for how many hours the room stays out of service
  • A follow-up visit two weeks later to close the egg cycle

Kitchen, laundry and service areas

Hotel kitchens are handled on the same logic as restaurants: dishwash, dry store, goods-in and waste are the priority zones. The laundry carries both heat and moisture, and it is one of the routes bed bugs use to spread.

Floor pantries, staff changing rooms and storage areas are usually skipped by others, yet they are where the problem sits quietly. We include them in the plan.

Planning around the season

Occupancy in Antalya peaks between May and October. Treating before the season opens removes the need to take rooms out of service during it. We work with a full pre-season treatment and fast room-level response in season.

When a room reports a problem in season we come the same day. If it has to stay closed we pick the method that keeps that shortest and tell you exactly when it can be sold again.

FAQ

Hotel & Guesthouse Pest Control — frequently asked questions

How long does a room stay out of service?

It depends on the method. A standard room treatment is usually two to four hours; the bed bug protocol takes longer. We give the exact figure before we start.

Do you respond during the season?

We come the same day in central Antalya. Getting the room back into service is the priority. For outlying districts the day depends on that day's route.

Is one treatment enough for bed bugs?

No. Eggs are not affected by the treatment, so a second visit is needed two weeks later. That visit is part of the protocol and is not charged separately.

Do you work with large resorts?

We work with boutique hotels, apart hotels and guesthouses. For large resort properties tell us the scale up front so we can be honest about whether we can cover it.

If you've seen one, don't wait
